What went well
We moved at high speed (about 30 seconds per kid).

Weigh in operators learned, without training, how to use the system.

Even though we had a crisis where we didn't have the connection between the laptop to the scale (not possible to have weight transferred automatically vs. manual typing in), we were able to in extremely rapid fashion (15 minutes) get a new download to the client app which allowed for high speed manual entry.

We learned while weighing kids in that by calling out the childs first and last name, the operator to pre-fetch the child's record so that through put could be improved.

The early weighin would serve to lighten the load for future weigh ins.

Scales failed at the worst of times.

Root Cause Analysis
Pattern - We learned while weighing kids in that by calling out the childs first and last name, the operator to pre-fetch the child's record so that through put could be improved.
There are 3 humans at a station and the first human checks id to verify correct kid, next human finds human on the list and asks question to verify kid knows who he (or she is) and third human records the weight. By calling name out early, the kid's record can be found in parallel to the activities performed by first and second humans.

Pattern - Forgot the connector between the computer and the laptop.
- Why? For the first time, all of the equipment was not being sent from the same location. One party had the scales and brought them to the location. Another party packed the laptops, and a 3rd party carried the laptops from the Blue Collar office to the location. So, it wasn't until arriving and putting things together that we learned of the missing components.
- This approach enabled a disconnect in QA for both the state of equipment and coordination for all of the moving parts
- No single source of checking that all equipment is in the proper state and all pieces needed at a location is available.

Solution Suggestions
- Make a checklist for Weigh ins
- Part of checklist should be verifying all equipment needed for weigh ins are in perfect operating condition (including that laptops have the correct system date and time.

Pattern - Sol arrived later than planned due to traffic and last minute acquisition of driving directions.
Sol is a bozo and waited til the last minute instead of getting info ahead of time.
-
- Info for Weigh in locations was not in one, known location
