BlueCollarPurpose

The purpose of this topic is to collect the ideas on why we exist from our team for publication on the public web site.

Why do we exist?

Eric and Sol initiated a vision, not a single human. Over time others have contributed and we have an evolved shared vision and sense of purpose. We all are inspired, seek meaningful work and want to change the world for the better. SolomonThompson 09 Oct 2009 - 08:25
We exist because a single man had a vision of a world being different than what he found it. Out of this vision grew a company where there is flexibility and a balance between work, self and family. A culture where one can be themselves and find personal growth and reward. A culture that believes wisdom comes from the knowledge and experiences of the many instead of just one. A group of individuals whose talents and insight is helping our customers become successful. We exist because we enjoy what we are doing, we do it well and in many ways we act like a family. ... to constantly challenge conventional wisdom, to provide MEANINGFUL work, to use the ideas of an intentional crowd, to shatter the notion of a work day/work location/org hierarchy, to enable high performing teams of strangers... SolomonThompson 30 Sep 2009 - 14:30
We are in business to make money. We do this by providing services and products that delight our customers and are are good for the community/world (we distinguish how we are willing to make money). In the process, we try to enrich our employees. KatherineBetz 30 Sep 2009 - 06:59

We exist to provide creative solutions to the problems and issues that our customers identify. We strive to be innovative and to 'set the bar' in the agile community. We create fresh ideas and seek out new customers. We utilize a distributive workforce that is able to cull talented people from all over, with various backgrounds, to work on multiple projects. We easily adapt to dynamic technologies and a changing world. LaurenMerriken 29 Sep 2009 - 09:16
* To implement the 'Build a Car - Name Your Price' for software
* To cause a stir in the online community because of our novel ideas
* To provide simple, useful and graceful applications for our end-users; nothing flashy, just providing core functionality that works efficiently and effectively
* To provide a collaborative platform for our employees, customers and vendors 'regardless of health status, race, economic status, location' (Sol's words) or culture to move software "To infinity ... and beyond!" (Buzz Lightyear, Toy Story).

We exist to create an environment that enables “the community” to be successful. The community being our customers, our employees, our vendors, our company. We enable our clients’ success by providing them with robust solutions at lower costs than competitors; our employees’ success by providing an open environment for talent to be utilized; our vendors’ success by maintaining an ethical relationship and providing opportunities for their growth.
We exist to make a significant dent in the way business is performed
JeanThompson 28 Sep 2009 - 17:29
To improve people's lives. To be rolemodels in the business/global community; showing others a different and better way to successfully operate a business. To create a legacy that we can be proud of and hand-off to our children. To serve....customers, teammates, business partners, etc. To excel at whatever we choose to do. ShashonnaRaines 28 Sep 2009 - 17:26
To create an environment where people can collaborate, innovate and provide solutions on meaningful ideas and problems. Using technology to achieve this such that the best and brightest can work with us whenever, however, and wherever. Making a large enough impact on the way work is done that we change the world. BrandonRaines 28 Sep 2009 - 15:16
We exist to define quality solutions to a dynamically evolving world embracing all cultures by creatively channeling empowering and outstanding employment opportunities for present and future needs. ArtThompson 26 Sep 2009 - 23:24
